About

Sanan completed his pupillage with PABASA in 2023. In 2016, Sanan clerked at the Constitutional Court. He then commenced articles at GMI Attorneys, working in its commercial litigation and insurance department. Sanan was awarded a Chevening Scholarship to pursue his LLM at the University of Cambridge, where he focused on international trade, economics, intellectual property and information law. While in the UK, Sanan was also awarded a Pegasus Trust Scholarship, where he had the opportunity to work on high profile commercial and public law matters with Inner and Middle Temple barristers in London.

Returning to South Africa, Sanan was appointed as a researcher for the Mokgoro Commission. He then spent several years working at the UK's Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office as its anti-corruption lead for Southern Africa. In this role, he worked with a number of multilateral institutions (UNODC, World Bank and OECD) designing and implementing programmes focused on procurement, illicit financial flows, data and digitisation, corporate governance, information access and transparency, asset seizures and forensic investigations.
