Sanan joined the Bar in 2024. He regularly appears and advises in matters concerning commercial, corporate and contractual disputes, insurance, technology, intellectual property, media, information, human rights and public law.

Sanan frequently undertakes regulatory work and has acted as chairperson of the Advertising Regulatory Board's Appeals Committee. Outside of day-to-day practice, Sanan sits on the board of Corruption Watch.

Before being called to the Bar, Sanan clerked at the Constitutional Court in 2016 and gained experience at a firm in Pretoria in its commercial litigation and insurance department. As a Chevening Scholar he read for an LLM at the University of Cambridge, focusing on international trade, economics, intellectual property and information law. Following that, as a Pegasus Trust Scholar, Sanan worked with Inner and Middle Temple barristers on commercial and public law matters in London. Sanan has also worked as a researcher to the Mokgoro Commission and has spent several years at the United Kingdom's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office as its anti-corruption lead for Southern Africa, designing and implementing programmes with the UNODC, World Bank and OECD on procurement and digitisation, illicit financial flows, corporate governance, transparency, asset seizure and forensic investigation.
