Nguta was previously an attorney, and completed pupillage in 2021. He has also worked in telecommunications. He has appeared at most tribunals including ICASA's Complaints and Compliance Committee, Tax Courts, Labour Courts, High Courts, the SCA and the Constitutional Court. He was a Mandela-Washington Fellow to the US in 2018.
