About
Mdu has a special interest in Public Law, especially Constitutional, Administrative, Regulatory and Labour law. He completed pupillage at PABASA in 2022 and commenced practice in 2023. He has appeared at the Constitutional Court, Labour Court, High Court, CCMA and various bargaining councils. Prior to being called to the Bar, Mdu served in legal roles in various government departments, such as the Department of Minerals and Energy, the Department of Justice and the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development.
Mdu was junior counsel in Le Roux and Another v Johannes G Coetzee and Seuns and Another 2024(4) BCLR 522 (CC), a matter which developed the rules of prescription in the context of professional negligence by legal practitioners. He also appeared and argued as a junior in Mbolekwa and Another v Premier of the Eastern Cape and Others [2024] ZAECMHC 1, a review of a decision to not recognise the applicant as a Senior Traditional Leader in terms of relevant legislation.
